Parent Alert will ultimately augment RenWeb’s current capability for mass email distribution by enabling school officials, faculty or staff members to reliably distribute instantaneous alerts via a variety of popular devices and media to notify parents of incidents ranging from in-school emergencies to school closings, absences and tardies, bus delays, cancellations or schedule changes.

Parent Alert provided by SchoolCast is made available through RenWeb’s partnership with Tim McCarrell, former founder of Hunter Systems, through his current company High Ground Solutions, Inc. This add-on service is an important part of RenWeb’s recently announced new technology alliance strategy to integrate cutting-edge external services by best-in-class providers into RenWeb’s comprehensive solution. An offer of a free three-month trial of Parent Alert will begin in early July and be available to new or existing RenWeb member schools through the end of September.

The versatile and affordable Parent Alert solution will send text messages to parents requesting text messages to their cell phone or PDA, or voice messages for those who prefer voice calls to their cell phone, home phone, or both, providing multiple means for reaching parents when it matters most.

The system also allows administrators to schedule automatic alerts to go out as reminders to parents for upcoming events such as grade reporting periods, rehearsals, PTA meetings or special schedule days. In addition, parents can select the device and medium they prefer for receiving different types of alerts.
